Erika Olson

My Aliases: "e," "egrrl," and "that crazy chick who thinks hobbits are real"

Location: The Windy City, with my husband and our black lab

Background: After spending over a decade working for The Man, I realized that I would be much happier as a freelance writer. And I am. I've been writing for redblog since September 2008, and in 2010 was accepted into the Chicago Film Critics Association.

My first book, "Zero-Sum Game: The Rise of the World's Largest Derivatives Exchange," was published by Wiley in late 2010. It's about my crazy year at the Chicago Board of Trade during a stranger-than-fiction multibillion-dollar bidding war for the exchange, where I used to be the Managing Director of Marketing. You know you wanna buy a copy. RIGHT?!?

Last but not least, I (still) blog about the hit TV show "LOST" on LongLiveLocke.com, even though the series went off the air in May 2010. How's that for dedication?

Education: I have a BBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and an MBA from Harvard Business School. These fine institutions were unaware of my belief in hobbits when they admitted me.

Random Fact: The best actress in the world, Madonna, went to my high school. OK, so maybe acting is not Madonna's thing. Swept Away, anyone?

You can catch even more of my random musings on Twitter at twitter.com/erikaolson, if you're so inclined.
